The most environmentally friendly and often best tasting way to eat lunch at work is to bring food from home in reusable containers with reusable utensils. If you haven’t ever tried cooking a huge dinner the night before so that you have left over for lunch the next day, you are in for a great experience. It’s a mystery how flavors seem to intensity during a night in the fridge. Bringing home cooked meals cuts down on all the waste associated with take-out or delivery. However, if you do decide to order take out or delivery, order from restaurants that don’t use Styrofoam. Also, try to place large orders with coworkers so that multiple delivery or pick up trips are avoided. If you are ordering Chinese food (or any food where portions can be served out of a box) order big for yourself and coworkers but make sure to bring your own reusable plate and utensils. Look for places to eat close by and try walking or biking.
