They take only 21 days to hatch and when full grown and healthy will lay about an egg a day.  They don’t take much to feed and will eat virtually anything left over from breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their poop makes excellent fertilizer and is quite pricy when bought at a nursery.  All in all chickens are pretty great.
