Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘you vote with your dollar’? Well it’s true. Many consumers now only purchase products that have been deemed environmentally friendly.  The effect? Producers must supply these environmentally friendly products or risk a serious drop in sales.  Well, believe it or not, major cell phone manufacturers have begun to catch on. The result?  Samsung’s up and coming eco-phone will be sporting it’s own solar panel and much more!

The new Samsung ‘Blue Earth’ is a very attractive touch screen cell phone that is made out of recycled plastic from water bottles. It has solar panels on the back, which can charge the phone with enough energy to call anywhere at anytime.  Samsung has also removed some harmful substances that usually exist within cells phones and the charger is rated 5 Star Energy Efficient. The packaging is made from recycled paper and there are also some very cool environmental programs on the phone such as ‘Eco Mode’, which reduces the screen’s brightness to save energy.

The ‘Blue Earth’ is Verizon’s answer to Sprint’s eco-phone called the ‘Reclaim’, which is made from a combination of  recycled plastic and corn based plastic. The ‘Blue Earth’ is slated to be out later this month but the ‘Reclaim’ is already in stores for a very affordable price.

So remember, the next time your phone gets run over or drops in the toilet make sure to pick up one of the new  Eco-Phones and vote with your dollar!
